phimedia is primarily the work of Michael Dunn.
I have been working in the field of digital media for over 10 years. After finishing studies as a Mechanical Engineer at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand I taught at the Film School at the Ilam School of Fine Arts Film School, University of Canterbury and the Design and Arts College of New Zealand. During this time I was involved with the production of over 40 short films, installations and interactive web designs.
At the same time I also ran a multimedia design buisness which designed and hosted web sites for some of New Zealands largest companies. These included Meadow Fresh Foods, the largest Dairy Producer in the South Island and Mount Cook Airlines , NZ's largest tourism operator. This site featured automated updating of snow conditions for four major ski-fields and attracted more than 10,000 hits a day in 1996!
In 1999 I moved to Melbourne, Australia where I joined the team at Phenomena. Phenomena provided high end visual effects for motion picture and long form televison drama. I was employed as an animator and during the next three years worked on four major motion pictures, three 26 part television series, several music videos and numerous television commercials. Late in 2003 Phenomena merged with its sister company Iloura animation where I worked till August 2004.
In August 2004 my partner Charlotte was offered a position as Winemaker at Devils Lair winery in Margaret River WA. Time for a seachange! Which leads us to today. I am now based in Margaret River offering the sevices outlined in these pages.
